Recently Northwind Engineering, LLC won a contract with the Department of Homeland Security and the work will be performed in Maine. We are taking this opportunity to open a New England Regional Office in Portland, Maine. The office is located at 316 Presumpscot Street, Portland, ME 04103.
Northwind Now Offering Equipment Rentals 2011-08-05
Northwind Engineering, LLC is now offering heavy equipment rentals ranging from excavators to tractors. In order to assist our customer's needs, we offer rental lengths in daily, weekly, and monthly packages. We are currently located in multiple locations including St. Louis Missouri, Dover Delaware, Heilwood Pennsylvania, Harrisburg Pennsylvania, and Ironton Ohio.
Northwind Awarded Rhode Island IDIQ MATOC 2011-08-15
Northwind Engineering, LLC has recently been awarded the contract for Construction IDIQ MATOC for maintenance, repair, and services at the various National Guard facilities in Rhode Island. Work will include interior and exterior renovations, heating and air-conditioning, HVAC controls, plumbing, fire suppression, interior and exterior electrical and lighting, fire and intrusion alarms, communications, limited utilities, site-work, landscaping, fencing, masonry, roofing, concrete, asphalt paving, storm drainage, limited environmental remediation, construction of new facilities, and other related work.
Air National Guard Cuts Ribbon on 2 New Facilities 2011-09-23
On September 22, 2011, the 193rd Special Operations Wing, Pennsylvania Air National Guard along with the Northwind team and Managing Member Darcia North Wind, cut the ribbon opening two new buildings which will help the 193rd continue evolving their facility to expand on their Special Operations Forces (SOF) mission.
Northwind Wins Business of the Year 2011-10-08
On October 7th, 2011, Northwind Engineering was awarded with the 2011 Minority Small Business Of The Year Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration Pittsburgh District Office. The award is in recognition of our outstanding performance and commitment to excellence as an entrepreneur. Northwind Helping Families Displaced By Hurricane 2011-10-28
On October 21st, 2011, Northwind Engineering began working for CH2M Hill on a Federal Emergency Management Agency project to develop an emergency mobile home park in Athens, Pennsylvania to house families displaced by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The park will be capable of providing homes for up to 58 families with the possibility of additional homes being added. On-site personnel have been working around the clock to ensure that the homes will be ready for those in need.

FEMA NETC Grease Trap Contract 2013-09-26
Northwind has been awarded a contract by the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA. As prime contractor, Northwind will be responsible for furnishing all labor, material, equipment, tools, transportation and services necessary for and incidental to the installation of a grease trap and the removal of existing asphalt and repaving of 2' x 4' area at Bldgs. K and T at the the National Emergency Training Center, 16825 S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, MD 21727.

Northwind Transports Historic Bicentennial Bell 2013-01-28
Northwind was the prime contractor for removing, packing transporting and restoring the Bicentennial Bell at Independence Park. The bell was removed from its historic 176 ft tower to make way for the demolition of the surrounding buildings to make way for a new Revolutionary War museum.
Northwind Awarded Fall Protection Contract 2013-07-02
Northwind was contracted to provide roof edge fall protection with lightning protection at building 84 for the NETL in Pittsburgh, PA. The project scope of work includes roof edge fall protection with lightning protection, modifying walkways in Green Roof areas to eliminate tripping hazards, purchasing and installing new walking pads that match the existing walking pads to maintain current walkways, modifying steps on the North end of Annex roof, modifying lightning protection cable to eliminate tripping hazards, and painting warning marks on non-uniform steps on the North stairwell.
Northwind Awarded Fire Department Repairs Contract 2013-08-03
Northwind was contracted by 187 FM Contracting Office to renovate and improve the Fire Department Building 1225 Dormitory. The scope of the job to be completed by Northwind comprises of replacing ceiling tiles in the dormitory, the carpet replaced with tile work, along with renovating the restrooms. Two showers are to be replaced on the main floor; along with repairs to the sanitary sewer line that was damaged and resulting in backup.
Northwind Awarded Structure Renovation Contract 2013-09-26
Northwind has been contracted to provide brick renovations and repairs to NAVFAC Building 6. The scope of the work entails replacing damaged, cracked and bowed brick, removing mortar and repoint at brick on 100% of the exterior, installing new concrete, and removing and replacing existing expansion points. As the prime contractor, Northwind is providing all planning, supervision, labor, Professional Engineering, materials, tools, supplies, equipment, testing, inspection, commissioning, and other assets pertinent to performing this task fully and meticulously.
Northwind Awarded Sewage Lift Repairs Contract 2013-09-28
Northwind was contracted for Replacement of Fuel Depot, Craney Island, Portsmouth, Virginia. This request requires Northwind to remove and reinstall approximately 2000 linear feet of 12” fire line to include fire hydrants, tee’s, valves, and other connections. The fire pumps that are currently in place shall be skillfully replaced under this task order as well. For this project Northwind will investigate the condition of the existing fire line, material transition location, and submitted documents. We will successfully replace the fire line and fire hydrants along replacement route. In addition to this, we will replace all connections associated with the replacement route. We shall also efficiently replace the fire pump compatible with their current soft start, motor, and other items that are at the time currently installed.
Northwind Awarded Collapse Simulator Contract 2014-01-06
Northwind was contracted to provide the National Guard Bureau with subject matter expertise on joint doctrine, training, education, and exercises to ensure a trained and balanced National Guard force ready to support any mission of the several States or Combatant Commanders. Northwind is tasked to develop and support regional training and exercise activities aimed at enhancing domestic contingency readiness. We were contracted to provide a useful, realistic, challenging, and maintainable Structure Collapse Simulator to provide the needed skill lanes. The training venue provides strategic and tactical skills, these challenges of such complexity that repetitiveness does not raise familiarity with the training prop and training lanes. The Structure Collapse Simulator is of sufficient size and complexity to keep the Search and Extraction teams training in a realistic condition and environment so individuals gain valuable experience and expertise working on a simulated “real world” structure collapse. The use of these simulator venues supports regional training and exercises to enhance domestic contingency readiness exercises and evaluations of CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package, Homeland Response Force, and other CBRNE response capabilities.
Northwind Awarded Building Repair Contract 2014-01-06
Northwind has been contracted by the Department of Homeland Security to repair the roof on Building B and O at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Building B consists of replacing 5,696 square feet of existing slate roof with new Ecostar synthetic slate. New underlayment must be approved upon manufacturer’s recommendation of the type of product to install. The metal flashing will be replaced to match the existing style and color. The roof on building O requires the removal of 1900 square feet of roofing membrane and repair and replacing of substandard sheathing material. Northwind will install Polyiscosyanuate insulation on the sub structure and seal and fill all existing and new penetrations of the roof, as well as install 1900 square feet of mechanically fastened rubber roofing with 60 mil of thickness providing the roof with a weather tight system. The gutter and down spout will be replaced on the south side of the building and the chimney flash will be reworked and repaired to improve the drainage.
Northwind Awarded IDIQ Contract for Saylorville Lake 2014-04-01
Northwind was awarded by United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Rock Island District an Indefinite Quantity Delivery Order (IDIQ) Contract. Saylorville Lake IDIQ work includes repair of cracked asphalt roads and installation of new asphalt sections; as well as, replacing 450 feet of old guard rail with new timber backed guard rail, installation of concrete slabs with water drainage, and line and symbol painting. Saylorville IDIQ additionally has smaller task orders that involve sealing cracked pavement areas, smaller asphalt repair jobs requiring traffic control plans, removing and installing new guardrail, and adding pavement markings to necessary areas.
Northwind Awarded BOSS Renovations Contract 2014-05-07
Northwind was contracted for design services, permitting, labor, materials, equipment, tools, construction equipment, machinery, water, heat, utilities, transportation and all other costs associated with the project. The purpose of this project is to provide professional design and construction services necessary to renovate rooms 179, 180, 182, and 183 in building 107 located at the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Pittsburgh IAP, Coraopolis, PA to accommodate the beddown of a new Boom Operator Simulation System (BOSS).
Northwind Awarded Records Management Contract 2014-06-13
Northwind has been contracted to perform Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Real Property (Property, Plant, and Equipment [PPandE]) Document Tabbing Support. Northwind shall validate the Real Property Inventory (RPI) for all DLA enterprise activity assets. For this project, Northwind personnel are responsible for breaking apart PDF files and organizing them according to the DLA requirements. The scope of work contains 5,000 assets that shall be sorted and categorized depending on type of document and life cycle.
Northwind Awarded Brick Renovation Contract 2014-09-27
Northwind was contracted to provide brick renovations and repairs to NAVFAC Buildings 3 and 5. The intent of the project is to complete an exterior brick renovation of Buildings #3 and #5 to include; 100% mortar joint re-pointing and concrete water table repair at the Naval Support Activity in Philadelphia, PA. Northwind has also been tasked with providing integrated sustainable design strategies and features to minimize the energy consumption of the facilities; conserve resources; minimize adverse effects to the environment; and improve occupant productivity, health, and comfort.
Northwind Awarded BLM Renovations Contract 2014-09-29
Northwind has been awarded the Nevada Radio Infrastructure Renovations contract by the Bureau of Land Management to renovate the tower sites, at five remote locations. These locations lie within the border of Nevada within the boundaries of Ely District, Battle Mountain District, and Southern Nevada District. They are Bald Mountain, Blue Diamond, Kimberly, Mount Callaghan, and Mount Wilson.
